Sponsored Content: How IDIS delivered the future of video surveillance in one complete solution
At ISC West in April, it was impossible not to notice IDIS. From banners and kiosks announcing the debut of the global player on the American stage, to the dizzying array of technology featured at one of the show’s most prominent booths, IDIS—a global surveillance pioneer since 1997, with more than 2.4 million installations worldwide—held a coming out party of epic proportions for the American debut of the IDIS brand business. The manufacturer’s must-attend launch on the show floor set tongues and social media ablaze, with colorful acrobats bringing the company’s reputation for agility, flexibility, and out-of-the-box thinking to breathtaking life.
But by show’s end, it was the quality and pure innovation of IDIS technology—in the form of the IDIS total solution, an end-to-end offering able to meet any surveillance need of any size—that truly captured the hearts and imaginations of the industry. From analog through IP, whether single site upgrades or complex multi-site installations requiring specialty functionality, the IDIS total solution showed it could deliver IDIS’s signature quality and low total cost of ownership no matter what the surveillance need or size. Visitors to the IDIS booth viewed the latest in IDIS technology—including cameras, monitors, and NVRs with industry leading specifications—and got the chance to test one of the company’s core claims—unprecedented ease of installation—first hand, at the IDIS “plug-and-play zone,” where visitors, even those without experience, were able to successfully complete the installation of an IDIS system.
The company’s successful debut in the Americas, which also included the naming of top executives and region-specific sales staff, the ribbon cutting on a regional headquarters and warehouse near Dallas, Texas, and the debut of a new state-of-the-art demonstration space for the Americas, was the culmination of innovation and planning going as far back as 1997, when the company’s founders leveraged a variety of backgrounds, including computer science and artificial intelligence, to take video recording beyond its existing limitations and into the future. Growing to eventually become the world’s #1 DVR manufacturer, IDIS then turned to the challenge of providing a true end-to-end total solution, able to provide world-class quality recorders, cameras, monitors, software and more—with a low total cost of ownership and industry-leading ease of installation.
The fruits of this effort have been changing the game around the globe for the past three years, as the IDIS brand business has expanded to Europe, the Middle East, and now the Americas. The launch of the company’s DirectIP solution was well-received around the globe, and IDIS innovation continued to grow and improve its offering, debuting the IDIS total solution, building upon the success of the simplicity, scalability, an affordability of DirectIP to include additional analog and high-performing VMS offerings and make good on the company’s promise to meet “every surveillance need” with IDIS quality.
The three offerings in the IDIS total solution are:
- IDIS DirectIP, the company’s flagship offering, which continues to be a revolutionary approach to HD surveillance—one that is truly plug-and-play, single-source, and highly affordable—comprising a range of HD cameras, network video recorders (NVR), and monitors—including 4K UHD and support for H.265;
- IDIS Solution Suite (ISS), a full featured VMS that works with any combination of recording platforms and offers a highly responsive and cost-effective modular design, with available recording, backup, redundant recording, failover services, and video wall services modules; and a virtually identical GUI across all platforms; and
- IDIS DirectCX, the IDIS HD-TVI offering. DirectCX delivers FHD over coaxial cabling—with support for HD-TVI 2.0 and market-leading image quality. DirectCX cameras, recorders, and IDIS Center, offering the ability to benefit from IDIS signature quality, while complementing existing investments with coaxial cabling.
Notably, IDIS now offers the world’s highest performing NVR—with a class-leading network throughput up to 310Mbps, leading-edge 4K video out capability, and support for H.265 (enabling a doubling of storage capacity or image quality).
Now that the IDIS brand business has fully spanned the globe, does the company plan to slow down? Keith Drummond, senior director of sales for IDIS America, says no.
“IDIS will stay relevant and grow by continuing to innovate, keeping an unrelenting focus on quality, cost-effectiveness, and latest-generation technology,” says Drummond. “IDIS will stay competitive by consistently delivering a world-class, highest quality total solution for every need, at a low total cost of ownership. We’ve changed the game many, many times, and we plan to keep doing it.”
Drummond also notes the long pedigree of IDIS (a global surveillance pioneer since 1997) and the company’s extensive presence in the Americas as an ODM as a key factor for success as IDIS expands its presence in the region.
“IDIS has been active in the North American market through our ODM partnerships for some time, and has extensive knowledge and insight into the region,” notes Drummond. “We have been pleased to serve the needs of the region and to have grown with the marketplace as the recognition of the importance and benefit of video surveillance in matters of public safety and criminal prosecution became increasingly apparent to the American people.
“The Americas are such an exciting and strategic market, as they boast a strongly held appreciation of IDIS’s three strongest value propositions: flexibility, quality, and affordability. Though the region has lagged behind Europe and other parts of the world in terms of a general embrace (or at least acceptance) of the benefits of video surveillance, vocal discussions and powerfully insightful debates about technology and privacy have started to quiet as equilibrium between privacy concerns and a need for robust security has been achieved. This pivots the story of surveillance in the Americas to the embrace of IP and HD as legacy systems require upgrade, and brand new installations feature the latest technology. With the IDIS total solution providing IDIS quality and performance no matter the size or nature of the surveillance need—IDIS looks forward to growing our role in the American surveillance space with our game changing combination of quality, low costs, and ease of installation.”
