BREA, CA, SEPTEMBER 7, 2012 -- Moxa is continuing its legacy of leadership in networking technology with the launch today of its new VPort™ 36-1MP-T camera, the world's first industrial-grade IP network camera capable of withstanding a wide temperature range of -40° C to 75° C (-40° F to 167° F). The camera installs outdoors inside a standard camera housing without the need for a heater or cooling fan, resulting in reduced energy consumption and simplified, more cost-effective installations.
IP video surveillance use is steadily growing in more challenging environments, including offshore drilling platforms, mines, border patrols, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and substation deployments. Consequently, site technicians and systems integrators are seeking more robust camera designs that protect sensitive internal electronics. The VPort 36-1MP-T sets a new standard for industrial strength design with its wide operating temperature range and industrial certifications compliance. These certifications include:
• NEMA TS-2-2003 rated for the ITS market meeting the environmental requirements for road traffic control systems and cabinet electronics. Thanks to the VPort 36-1MP-T's wide operating range, these installations will no longer require a heater/blower fan in the outdoor housing. Instead, technicians can simply run a single Ethernet cable to the camera with standard PoE (802.3af).
• EN 50121-4 rated for rail side use. The VPort 36-1MP-T meets the EMI/EMC standard for use within the railway environment and the systems surrounding environments.
"Our VPort 36-1MP-T camera provides a highly-reliable, flexible solution in virtually any environmental setting with continued high-definition HD video streaming in even the hottest or coldest climate to meet the mission-critical requirements set for many of today's remote applications," said Joe Cook, Business Development Manager, Moxa Americas Inc. "Government and private industry customers will find Moxa's surveillance products have high quality design and engineering with the VPort 36-1MP series camera featuring ONVIF compliant interoperability to flexibly integrate with other ONVIF compliant products. The VPort 36-1MP series also feature an industry leading 5-year manufacturer's warranty."
Advanced Imaging Performance
The VPort 36-1MP-T camera provides three simultaneous high definition H.264 and MJPEG video streams (2 in H.264, and 1 in MJPEG) at resolutions as high as 1280 x 800. Efficient video encoding technology enables the camera to support up to 30 FPS for each of the H.264 and MJPEG streams.
With a built-in removable IR-cut filter and automatic color mode switching, the VPort 36-1MP-T is suitable for day-and-night use. Highly-tuned ROI (Region of Interest), and WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) functions enable the capture of exceptionally clear images, even in severe back lighting. In addition, network security functions, such as 802.1x and SSL/SSH, are also provided to prevent unauthorized access or data hijacking, a critical feature for many surveillance applications. Also, video can be stored on an SD card slot in the event of a power loss or network outage.
The VPort 36-1MP-T supports a variety of lenses and is compatible with C/CS mount lenses. It is available as PoE (802.3af) with wired power input option supporting 12/24 VDC or 24 VAC VAC and includes a RS-485 serial interface.. Optional housing and PT scanner accessories are available for indoor and outdoor installation.
The Moxa VPort 36-1MP-T camera is immediately available.
