MELVILLE, N.Y., October 17, 2013 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, added four new Full HD resolution network cameras to its product lineup – the VB-S30D PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) Micro Dome Full HD Network Camera, VB-S31D PT (pan-tilt) Micro Dome Full HD Network Camera, VB-S800D Fixed Micro Dome Full HD Network Camera and VB-S900F Micro Box Full HD Network Camera. The new ultra-compact S-series network cameras have been designed for indoor environments that require sensitive monitoring of specific areas or items, such as in the retail, education, commercial and hospitality sectors. PoE (Power over Ethernet) and ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) Profile-S Conformance allow system integrators easy installation of all four new lightweight full HD cameras as part of a new or existing security network.
With high-sensitivity CMOS sensors, large-apertures, wide-angle lenses and dual DIGIC processors, the new S-series cameras offer an ideal combination of Full HD resolution, detailed image quality, wide-angle of view and excellent low-light performance. The new S-series of network cameras features two processors – DIGIC DV III and DIGIC NET II – enabling all capturing, processing, encoding and transmitting of outstanding images with life-like colors and tonal accuracy, simultaneously in both H.264 and M-JPEG at 1920 x 1080 up to 30 frames per second. The S-series of network cameras offer low-light performance, even in difficult lighting conditions, with Day/Night operation.
The processing architecture of the DIGIC DV III and DIGIC NET II processors, featured in the new S-series cameras, has been engineered to deliver multiple H.264 and/or M-JPEG streams in a selection of resolutions including Full HD (1920x1080). In addition to multi-streaming, the cameras can also do simultaneous streaming. The full range supports edge recording on microSD cards (up to 64GB) and features a new utility that can playback directly from the microSD card without the need to download content to a PC first.
“Our new ultra-compact series of network security cameras demonstrates Canon’s ability to incorporate feedback from our security partners and system integrators and develop network camera technology that ultimately enables our partners to better serve their customers through tighter security monitoring with a minimal physical presence,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, executive vice president and general manager, Imaging Technologies & Communications Group, Canon U.S.A. “This feedback also guided us to include the same comprehensive set of built-in analytics on the new compact S-series models that is currently available on our larger, higher priced security cameras.”
All of the new S-series cameras benefit from Canon’s 70-year heritage in imaging technology and include Auto Smart Shade Control, which automatically selects the optimum exposure level and helps compensate for dark areas while simultaneously maintaining the bright areas by adjusting the gain of the underexposed areas. This is possible without affecting exposure of properly exposed areas. This feature enhances overall image quality and allows the cameras to work easily in back-lit environments or difficult lighting conditions. With built-in video analytics that sense movement, abandoned and removed objects, camera tampering and changes in volume, the S-series of network cameras are an ideal choice for a range of applications.
Compatible with major third-party solutions and ONVIF v2.2 and Profile S compliant, the new S-series cameras are expected to start shipping at the end of 2013.
