Los Angeles, CA – January 16, 2014 – ICE Cable Systems -- a leading manufacturer of premium low-voltage wire and cable products serving the Audio Video, Alarm and Security, Commercial, Electrical Contracting and Data Center channels – is now offering alarm wire in their renowned Big Mouth Payout (BMP) box.
The BMP box is constructed of ultra-durable, weather resistant cardboard (with reinforced handles) that is burst-tested to withstand 21 kilograms of force, far surpassing the typical alarm wire boxes on the market today.
BMP has been a popular seller for ICE Cable Systems for category, speaker, coax, control and structured cables because its 4-inch payout hole and proprietary winding pattern work in tandem to eliminate everyday pull-problems like kinking, knotting, recoil and tangling. For additional installer convenience, ICE Cable Systems’ alarm wire incorporates ascending and descending foot-markers, making it effortless for the integrator to identify how much cable has been used and how much remains.
“Because alarm wire is a commodity item naturally the focus of many vendors has been to keep prices competitive,” says Chris Wyllie, principal of S.E.A.L Solutions, a metro-New York AV integration firm that installs residential security and surveillance systems on a regular basis. “The problem is that in order to keep the prices down, the majority of boxes are cheaply made, easily getting destroyed in the back of the work van and/or on the jobsite. Trying to pull cable out of a damaged box is a nightmare. The fact that ICE Cable Systems has thought this through with their BMP box is going to benefit a lot of installers.”
“If we can help installers reduce average pull-time by 15 percent per job, that’s huge,” says ICE Cable Systems President Brian Rizzo. “It means that we are helping them to move onto other aspects of the job faster. Spend a day walking in the shoes of one of these guys - one less problem to have to deal with is a big deal.”
The following ICE Cable Systems alarm wires are now available with BMP: 22-2/ Solid; 22-2/Stranded; 24-4 Solid and 24-4 Stranded (and many in runs as long as 1,000 feet).
