Thames Valley Police Custody Suites Select Zandar MultiViewers
Dublin, Ireland, 17 May 2006 - Zandar Technologies (www.zandar.com), a leading technology innovator and pioneer in MultiViewer systems, has provided the highly flexible 1RU FusionPro MultiViewers to Thames Valley Police, in what are accepted to be the most technically sophisticated custody suites in the UK.
This large partnership project was carried out for the Custody Refurbishment Programme worth approximately £15 million and is being managed by Beard Construction and RT Harris Electrical Contractor with Integrated Security Manufacturing supplying all the security and cell call systems.
“The recognised increase in incidents of near misses and death in custody were a driving force behind this project. Other critical factors included an increase in accountability, rising staffing costs as well as the operational aspects of clutter in an operator’s space (alarms, cell calls, intercoms and CCTV systems). The police wanted a system that utilised space and to visually alleviate these challenges” explains Stephen Smith, Sales & Marketing Director at Integrated Security Manufacturing (ISM).
Five out of twelve custody suites have so far been completed at Thames Valley Police and a Zandar 1RU FusionPro MultiViewer is allocated to each suite. Utilising 8 source inputs, the system displays high resolution images from 60 to 70 cameras. Images are also displayed from an advanced network video recorder (NVR) with audio and the Genesys integrated control software designed and implemented by ISM. The software incorporates clear concise graphics of the custody suites, patch through calls to cells from the telephone system, real-time CCTV images, intercoms, panic alarms and door control – all from a single platform.
“With our experience in providing numerous CCTV display systems, the FusionPro Multiviewer option was the obvious choice to provide a high-quality multi-image display on 40-inch TFT monitors. The units process all of the information we need with ease” states Stephen Smith.
Deirdre Smith, CEO at Zandar Technologies adds, “This is one of the more critical installations of FusionPro MultiViewers in the UK and we are delighted to be involved with such a forward thinking and innovative use of technology at Thames Valley Police.”
Stephen Smith concludes “The Zandar product has a substantial competitive advantage over similar products in the market place thereby complementing the technology and robustness of our own Genesys software to provide our clients with technology that will last well into the 21st Century.”
