March Networks (visit website), a leading provider of Internet Protocol (IP)-based digital video surveillance solutions, announced today that it has launched Managed Video Network Services as a complementary offering to its extensive portfolio of digital video recorders (DVRs) and software. The value-added service is designed to provide March Networks customers with an additional level of video network reliability, as many of these deployed networks have grown to exceed thousands of systems spanning multiple geographic regions.
March Networks is initially making the service available to North American customers and has signed its first Managed Video Network Services contract with Sheetz, Inc., a convenience store chain based in Altoona, Pennsylvania with more than 300 locations.
Managed Video Network Services provides organizations with a range of outsourced health monitoring, diagnostics and troubleshooting options to maintain the highest performance and availability from their entire IP video network. Comprehensive monitoring and management of mission-critical video networks can proactively identify and address technical issues, thereby preventing system downtime and the potential loss of video information. By subscribing to Managed Video Network Services, organizations can focus on their core operations, confident that their video security systems are performing optimally and cost-effectively.
Sheetz first deployed March Networks DVR systems in 2003 as part of a comprehensive store security and operations management program. Video from the DVRs has been used over the years to assist law enforcement with fraud investigations, and is linked to a centralized monitoring center to enable Sheetz security operations staff to respond quickly in emergency situations. Sheetz decided to outsource the management of its DVR systems in 2005. Michelle Sisto, store solutions manager with Sheetz states, "The whole focus of our security operations is to ensure the safety of our employees and customers. With March Networks' new service operating 24/7, it helps us meet that goal."
"The Managed Video Network Services offering is an important element of our core strategy, focused on continuing to enhance our solutions and provide value-added services to our customers," states Peter Strom, March Networks president and CEO. "We anticipate that demand for Managed Video Network Services will increase considerably in the coming months and years as our key customers continue to deploy thousands of DVRs in mission-critical applications."
