Security professionals bring school supplies to children in need with Mission 500’s Florida backpack initiative
Boynton Beach, FL (September 16, 2021) – The annual “Back to School Backpack” event organized by Mission 500 for students at Crosspointe Elementary School in Boynton Beach, Florida has bought essential school supplies, provided by the generous efforts of COPS Monitoring and individual donors in the security industry.
The team at COPS Monitoring came together once again to outfit students at Crosspointe Elementary with essential supplies and notes of encouragement to kick off another successful school year. Hundreds of bags were filled at the COPS Boca Raton, FL location, and hundreds more were shipped directly to Crosspointe Elementary School for distribution. Social media posts from both COPS and Mission 500 inspired individual donations, which helped fund an additional 30 bags. On August 9th, volunteers from COPS Monitoring attended Crosspointe’s, “Meet the Teacher,” event to help distribute the backpacks filled with essential school supplies to students.
“This has been one of my favorite events for the past several years,” said Jim McMullen, COPS Monitoring’s President. “Combining the much-needed school supplies with the reminder of stable employment means that we have a more meaningful, and hopefully long-lasting impact on our community.” COPS Monitoring supports their community by donating school supplies to Title I school Crosspointe Elementary and employment opportunities to the students’ parents and guardians.
Courtney Roper, Parent Liaison of Crosspointe Elementary School agreed that no child should have to go to school without the tools they need to help them be successful. “Our children are our future leaders, so it is important that we give them the tools that they need to succeed in school and in life. Thank you to Mission 500 and their partners for their continued support.”
Ken Gould, Chairman of Mission 500 expressed his team’s appreciation for being able to support once again the annual “Back to School Backpack Event” even in its new format. “Mission 500 is extremely pleased to assist COPS Monitoring in their efforts to support children in need in their local community, especially during these unusual times,” said Gould. “We look forward to working with COPS Monitoring on future charitable events, as they continue to be most generous and active with CSR activities benefitting many different organizations and causes.”
