ATLANTA, September 10, 2012 – Moog Videolarm has developed a new line of high-definition (HD) network cameras called the EXO Series that can withstand contaminants, chemicals, corrosion, bullets, impacts, flammable gases and dust. The Moog-designed electronic hardware in each camera is so sophisticated that Moog engineers also plan to use the technology for aerospace and medical applications.
“For years, our high-performance enclosures and electronics have made other manufacturers’ cameras operable in the harshest of conditions,” said Jimmy Pfaffenberger, general manager for Moog Videolarm. “There are limitations on the performance you can get from cameras designed for general security when used in extreme applications. In response to requests for camera systems that can perform beyond these limits, we harnessed Moog’s engineering expertise to develop our own HD networked cameras for the harshest of environments.”
Moog engineers designed the new EXO Series Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera systems to full 1080p video resolution. There are six models to meet the needs of various applications. Moog has also hardened each model’s electronic hardware to prevent, for example, food-processing debris, sea air or heavy vibration from affecting the camera’s video quality or network connections. The electronics inside each EXO Series camera are designed to NEMA TS2 operating temperature ranges of -58°F to 165°F (-50°C to 74°C), while most competing products can withstand no more than 122°F (50°C).
The six models of the EXO Series HD network cameras are: Anti-Corrosive; Bullet Resistant; Explosion Proof; Impact Resistant; Pressurization; and, Surface Mount. Each model is compatible with any ONVIF-compliant video management software. And, depending on the model, Moog will construct the camera’s enclosure of IK10-rated polycarbonate plastic, 316 stainless steel, or cast aluminum. Buyers can select from a broad portfolio of Moog Videolarm accessories to easily mount the EXO cameras on poles, walls and other surfaces for a variety of surveillance tasks including the monitoring of: interstates, processing plants, international borders, corporate campuses and oil and gas wells.
Moog has designed and tested the EXO Series cameras to comply with a variety of standards including the UL 752 specification for bullet-resistant equipment, Open Network Video Interface Forum (www.onvif.org) standard for IP-based security products, ingress protection rating (IP66/67) for resisting dust and water, and National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) TS2.
The EXO Series cameras also operate with Moog Videolarm camera lowering devices: the CamEvator, a self-encased motorized system; and the PolEvator, a patented camera-lowering pole. All EXO Series cameras are made in the United States and comply with the Buy American Act.
