Global surveillance leader IDIS and homeland security solutions pioneer Edge360 have teamed to develop a groundbreaking mobile video surveillance system, offering a technologically superior solution in a highly rugged enclosure that is easily transported and mounted. Rapidly re-deployable, the solution can be scaled to cover individual points of interest as well as city-wide deployments.
A resilient and agile surveillance tool, the rapid re-deployable surveillance solution from Edge360 with IDIS technology is primarily designed for the coverage of events and incidents in crowded urban environments—particularly areas with high foot traffic or changing points of interest, such as public gatherings or festivals. Traditional surveillance configurations for these large community events face common challenges related to their dynamic nature, such as the erection of visual obstructions (tents, banners, balloons, vendors, etc.), which can limit viewing options and unpredictably alter security landscapes. The new IDIS and Edge360 mobile system allows for quick and enhanced surveillance that adapts easily and quickly to these altered environments and can also be used in large interior spaces, such as exposition halls.
Additionally, variant radio frequency noise, common at large public events, can create a difficult environment for a traditional video system’s responsiveness, a risk that is successfully mitigated by Edge360’s hybrid and wireless technology innovations. The rapid re-deployable surveillance solution from Edge360 with IDIS technology is also a highly scalable and configurable surveillance tool, mobile enough to cover changing points of interest with a small number of cameras, and IDIS mobile communication software allows for deployment across entire cities.
The rapid re-deployable surveillance solution from Edge360 with IDIS technology has already deployed a successful proof of concept during the City of Houston’s 2016 Freedom Over Texas Festival during the July 4th holiday weekend. Noted Jack C. Hanagriff of the Houston Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security, “The mobile video surveillance solution provided by Edge360 and enhanced with IDIS surveillance technology successfully delivered a powerful ‘plug-and-play’ video network capable of cellular or wireless backhaul and one that did not interfere with existing video networks or other wireless devices in use. Importantly, this solution did not tax more than typical city resources commonly found in most urban communities, and the remote camera control via web browsers greatly enhanced situational awareness for our decision makers.”
Scott Frigaard, Vice President of Edge360, stated “The Edge360 rapid re-deployable surveillance solution, built with IDIS technology, addresses the urgent concerns of municipal environments as never before. We are looking forward to demonstrating this technology at the IDIS booth at ASIS this year and to exploring the many ways our technology can make a difference in today’s urban security environments.”
Keith Drummond, Senior Director at IDIS America, agreed, “Our partnership with Edge360 is yet another example of our commitment at IDIS to integrate our technology with the most innovative and creative concepts out there, bringing powerful technologies together to best meet the security and safety requirements of our nation’s communities. We have been extremely pleased with the early reception to the rapid re-deployable surveillance solution and think ASIS 2016 will be an excellent opportunity to share this solution with a wider audience.”
