Bernard Scaglione, CPP, CHPA, CHSP
Associate Principal
Bernard J. (Ben) Scaglione, CPP, CHPA, CHSP, is Associate Principal at Cerami & Associates where he leads the security team in the design and consultation of security systems for various industries including healthcare, government, residential, office, and religious. Ben blogs and manages, “The Secure Hospital,” a blogging and resource management internet site. He is the author of the book, “Security Management for Healthcare: Proactive Event Prevention and Effective Resolution” and co-author of “Healthcare Security: Solutions for Management, Operations and Administration.”
He has a Master’s Degree from Rutgers University School of Criminal Justice and has served as a security director for more than 25 years in New York City area hospitals, including New York Presbyterian Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, and Atlantic Health System. Over the past 20 years Ben has served in multiple capacities for the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) including council member, committee chair, and member of the IAHSS Board of Directors. He is past Chairman of the ASIS International Healthcare Council, past President of the New York City Metropolitan Healthcare Safety and Security Directors Association and is current chair of the ASIS International Crime Prevention Council. Ben was a contributing columnist for Security Magazine and is a frequent author to the Journal of Healthcare Protection Management. He serves as an adjunct professor at John Jay College and has served as an instructor at the Pratt Institute, and New Jersey City University, teaching security courses in healthcare, retail, ethics, security design, and security management.
Anjanette Hebert, CHPA, CHEP

As Vice-President of Healthcare for PalAmerican Security, Anjanette’s role is to drive the quality of the healthcare programs implemented, mentor new leaders and conduct comprehensive security program assessments. Along with a degree in Criminal Justice, Anjanette is a Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) and a Certified Healthcare Emergency Planner (CHEP).
Anjanette has dedicated the last 35 years to her career in healthcare security, gaining extensive experience in security design concepts, training for security officers and other staff, emergency response, and regulatory compliance related to security, emergency preparedness and the environment of care. Concurrently, as a regional coalition lead for more than 15 years in South Louisiana, she led the coalition of 40+ healthcare facilities through multiple disaster responses, inclusive of historic Hurricane Katrina.
Before joining PalAmerican in 2018, Anjanette worked as an independent consultant, conducted active shooter training, worked on recovery after devastating flooding in her area and deployed to Puerto Rico in a Logistics role as part of a Health and Medical Task Force after Hurricane Maria. Anjanette has been active in IAHSS for more than 25 years having served in a variety of roles including being on the Board of the Association and the Foundation and has received the Presidential Award for outstanding service to the Association and industry. She currently serves on the IAHSS Council on Guidelines and Design Guidelines. In 2024 Anjanette was named one of Security Magazine’s “Women in Security”. Anjanette is also a member of ASIS.
