Thomas Carnevale
Chief Operating Officer
Umbrella Technologies
Thomas Carnevale is an internationally recognized security entrepreneur, author and active speaker. He currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Umbrella Technologies, a security consulting company dedicated to physical security technologies, enterprise video surveillance, access control, mass notifications, and business intelligence.
With a background in the telecommunications industry, Thomas applied his technical insights to the security industry and founded his first entrepreneurial start-up, JCS Digital Security, in 2004. The company's primary focus was to integrate the best-in-breed surveillance technologies for its commercial and governmental clients.
Next, and for over 14 years, he founded Sentry360, a technology company that invented one of the industry's first single-sensor, open-platform, immersive panoramic camera technologies. This technology was used to secure Fortune 500 companies, major cities, and some of the world's largest mass transit agencies. The patented technology was developed and integrated with over 50 software platforms, helping to pave the way for 360-degree imaging within the security industry.
Honored by the Security Industry Association (SIA), ASIS, and multiple security publications over the years for his contributions to security technology innovation, Thomas has gained experience in training security system integration firms directly with Umbrella Technologies, providing end-user support.
Director of Sales Enablement
Mr. Saks is the Director of Sales Enablement at Hanwha Vision America. In his previous position as Director of Product Training, his primary responsibilities included managing the development of training and certification programs for various user groups. He also authored various technical documents, white papers, sales materials, and other literature. As new products are developed, he provides extensive testing and benchmarking to ensure high-quality products are released.
Previously, Mr. Saks was the Business Development Technical Manager at Samsung Techwin America. His key responsibilities include developing vertical solutions with ecosystem technical partners. When new hardware and software partners are introduced, he serves as a technical resource and provides training to ensure products are fully understood and optimized for best performance. Working with the entire Business Development team, he is a resource to define solutions, identify partner products, solve customer issues, and assist in pilot project opportunities in a vertically focused approach.
Over the past 10 years, he has served as a video surveillance subject matter expert, presented at many technology events such as security conventions, seminars, and road shows, as well as teaching Samsung’s acclaimed Samsung IP Institute (SIPI) certification courses. Mr. Saks holds a BS in Computer Cartography and Geography from the University of Maryland, College Park, and an MS in Information Technology from the University of Maryland, University College.
Vice President of Enterprise Accounts
Brent Boekestein, based in Silicon Valley, leads OpenEye’s Enterprise team. Prior to that, he co-founded Vintra, an AI-powered video analytics company that was used by multiple Fortune 100 companies and the US Government prior to its acquisition by OpenEye and Alarm.com in April of 2023.
Brent has delivered over two dozen talks globally on the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, most recently at ISC West 2025. He holds an MSc from the University of Manchester and is a co-author of two patents in the field of computer vision.
