Our mission for the Women in Security Forum is to provide a focus for women in Information Security through talks, panel discussions, peer mentoring, workshops, and networking opportunities. Our annual Security Summits consistently bring many women speakers. Each year, we also have the opportunity to feature a Women in Security Panel. During our ISSA-LA Security Summit XI in 2019, we were visited by senior female executives from around the world that were interested in collaborating in information security, privacy, and other technology-oriented fields. We are committed to helping organizations and businesses attract and retain women professionals in Information Technology and Information Security. We must address the current and projected vast shortage of qualified IT and InfoSec professionals.
Young women need to be inspired to choose careers in cybersecurity. Female role models are instrumental in helping reduce the deficit of women in IT security. Our ISSA-LA women mentors encourage young girls to pursue studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), which are subjects that can form the foundation for the pursuit of a career in IT Security.
