Missouri-based CoxHealth has deployed more than 100 network cameras and encoders from Axis Communications at its ambulatory surgery center and parking garages to ensure safety and reduce crime. As a result, the healthcare organization that boasts a 2.3 million-square-feet campus has cut both the number of thefts in its surgery center and vehicle break-ins at its parking lots while maintaining the same size security staff and holding costs down.
NetWatch Inc., which served as integrator for the IP-based system, worked with CoxHealth to devise an analog-to-digital transition strategy that included both network cameras and AXIS 243Q Video Encoders, which enable many IP capabilities, including central monitoring, motion detection and camera tampering alarms.
NetWatch implemented AXIS 215 PTZ and AXIS 225FD Network Cameras in outdoor areas, and AXIS M3011 Network Cameras indoors, the latter supporting advanced H.264 compression, enabling CoxHealth to store video for up to 30 days. Also implemented was OnSSI's Ocularis NetDVMS recorder with Ocularis Client Lite video management software (VMS) to monitor and manage events and alerts.
"We need to protect our property around the clock," says Joe Rushing, director of public safety and security for CoxHealth. "We couldn't possibly hire enough people to cover all the ground that our network surveillance system does."
Westchester Medical Center
Westchester Medical Center, located in New York's Hudson Valley region, has chosen an extensive, network-based video surveillance system from Vicon Industries Inc.
The completed system will be a hybrid, comprised of both analog and IP components that are managed by ViconNet digital video management software. The system will be used to monitor everything from the facility's operating rooms to parking garages, with video routed over the network to several designated monitoring stations.
Westchester Medical Center serves the area's 3.5 million residents with a variety of specialized treatment programs, including leading centers for kidney and liver transplants, the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital and a Level 1 Trauma Center.
H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute
Video surveillance systems from Panasonic System Networks Company have been chosen for a system upgrade at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute in Tampa, Fla.
Part of the elite group of National Cancer Institute (NCI) Comprehensive Cancer Centers, the Center occupies more than two million square feet, spread over 11 buildings in and around Tampa. The facility opened its doors in 1987, and a few of the Panasonic video surveillance cameras from the original installation are still in use there today.
The initial scope of the current project includes the design and implementation of a state-of-the-art video surveillance system for the main hospital, a new parking garage and three research buildings - one of which is located approximately five miles away from the main campus. Securiteam of Wesley Chapel, Fla., a Panasonic i-Pro Certified Reseller, performed that installation which was completed in December, 2009.
Panasonic equipment used in the first phase includes i-Pro Network Video Recorders, Megapixel Dome Cameras, Outdoor Pan/Tilt/Zoom Cameras, Encoders and Monitoring/Management Software.
