Sentinel Consulting welcomes security veteran as senior advisor
Sentinel Consulting announced that George W. Anderson has joined the company in the role of senior advisor.
Drawing upon his multi-faceted career in law enforcement and security management, the company says Anderson will offer Sentinel clients "a broad and sophisticated perspective in addressing their security challenges."
During 30 years with the New York Police Department, Anderson rose to the rank of assistant chief and served in a variety of assignments, including personnel, commander of the police academy and in the patrol services bureau.
He then transitioned to the private sector, serving as Allied Barton Security Service’s vice president for operations, managing the company’s multi-million-dollar portfolio of guard service business in Manhattan and the Hudson Valley.
There, he supported clients in every business category, including, but not limited to, healthcare, commercial real estate, museums, aviation, and cultural institutions. Six years ago, he assumed the role of director of security for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey at the World Trade Center site in Manhattan, where his team relied on a tremendous depth and breadth of security technologies.
Throughout his accomplished career, he has balanced the management of people, processes, and technology to maximum effect and he continue leveraging those skills in creating secure environments for Sentinel clients, the company says.
Anderson will also participate in new business development. His involvement with several professional organizations presents an opportunity to expose the value of Sentinel’s services to an expansive cadre of high-level security stakeholders.
Anderson has served as chair of the private sector liaison section of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), advocating for the value of public/private partnerships, and is past chair of the NYC Chapter of ASIS.
In 2015, he was presented with the Eugene Casey Award by the NYC Chapter, and in 2019, he received the Insightful Practitioner Award from the Security Industry Association.
Sentinel’s president and founder, Paul Benne, PSP, CPOI, said, “All of us at Sentinel are thrilled that George has joined us as a Senior Advisor. His diverse and comprehensive knowledge of protective services will be a great addition to our team. We look forward to leveraging his wealth of knowledge to provide our clients with best-in-class service.”
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with Paul and his team,” Anderson said. “I am eager to work with Sentinel’s current clients and to acquaint future clients with the value that Sentinel brings to our profession. From security technology solutions to project management, Sentinel is a top performer in my experience, and a great partner.”
Anderson earned an M.A. in Criminal Justice from SUNY Albany and graduated from the International Security Management Association Leadership Program at Georgetown University. He has shared his passion for policing and security management with the next generation of security leaders as an Adjunct Professor at John Jay College, Department of Law and Police Science, and at Marist College.
