Podcast Recap: A Conversation with Francis D'Addario: Protecting People First and Reimaging Security

Oct. 16, 2024
D'Addario discusses the paradigm shift in security culture, all-hazards operational risk oversight, and CPTED.

The security industry has undergone a major transition following the world-shaking impacts of artificial intelligence (AI) and the COVID-19 pandemic. As attacks by nation-state actors grow increasingly brazen and systems become further interconnected, security professionals must impress on executives the importance of a proactive, integrated security culture on a brand’s integrity and its bottom line.

In this episode of SecurityDNA, join SecurityInfoWatch Editorial Director Steve Lasky alongside Francis D’Addario, an industry-renowned emeritus faculty member of the Security Executive Council, for a lively discussion about the paradigm shift in security culture, all-hazards operational risk oversight, and the impact Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) innovations had on proactive security initiatives.

D’Addario: “We used to be this silo called ‘security.’ As we pick up safety and security capabilities after the pandemic, we are making a persuasive business case that it all contributes to the bottom line.”

Francis D’Addario is a distinguished security professional with over 30 years of experience in loss prevention, asset protection, and security leadership. Before his move to the Security Executive Council, D’Addario led cross-functional teams in the quick service restaurant and convenience store industry sector to implement CPTED initiatives, with the founding of Crime Prevention Associates International and AR2L furthering this goal. He was presented with the Lifetime Outstanding Security Performance Award (OSPA) in recognition of this service.

D’Addario currently serves the Security Executive Council as Emeritus Faculty, Strategic Influence and Innovation, where he heads multiple leadership initiatives, including Next Generation Leadership, Solution Innovation Partner programming, and the GSOC Operational Work Group.
