Today, Ring announced Smart Video Search, a new AI feature that makes it simple to find specific moments in your Ring video history. Smart Video Search enables you to quickly find something you’re looking for.
Smart Video Search is powered by Ring IQ—which is a combination of Ring AI technology and in-house expertise—and uses Visual Language Modeling (VLM) to match text to images and quickly deliver results. You can type queries directly into your Ring app to quickly pinpoint the right moment.
Smart Video Search will first roll out in public beta, and at launch, you’ll be able to search queries related to animals, locations, packages, people, time, vehicles, weather, and even some activities, like jumping, running, playing, or riding. Smart Video Search uses a sophisticated input moderation technique to prevent searching for offensive, inappropriate, or harmful content.
Pricing and Availability
Smart Video Search works with all Ring video doorbells and cameras and is rolling out to select customers in public beta starting today. On November 5, 2024, Ring will launch a revamped subscription service called Ring Home, and Smart Video Search—along with other new features like 24/7 Recording—will be available for Ring Home Premium subscribers in the U.S. for $19.99 per month.
