DALLAS, TX, September 26, 2017 – Dahua Technology USA, a leading manufacturer of video surveillance solutions proven the world over, has launched its proprietary Enhanced Power Over Ethernet (ePoE) to combat the limited transmission distances inherent to standard network devices.
“ePoE will boost the functionality of a video surveillance system thanks to improved transmission distances,” said Jennifer Hackenburg, senior product marketing manager, Dahua Technology USA. “By extending the transmission capability of each individual camera in a security system, a greater number of costly repeaters can be eliminated, making long distance video surveillance achievable for those working with limited budgets.”
The ePoE lineup includes cameras, switches, and recorders ideal for applications with long distance transmission requirements. These network devices allow for data transmission up to 2625ft (800m) without repeaters, providing a lower total cost of ownership to users who require long transmission distances without interruption. Additionally, the new ePoE devices promote seamless analog to IP migration, using coaxial cable to integrate Dahua’s ePoE IP cameras with Dahua’s Ethernet over Coax (EoC) passive converter for a pure IP solution.
Dahua is first-to-market with this analog-to-IP integrated solution for video surveillance with long range transmission. Because ePoE has the ability to convert coaxial cabling to a full network solution via Power over Coax (PoC), it eliminates the need for a separate power supply cable when utilizing coaxial infrastructure. This is a simple and effective solution that delivers seamless plug and play installation, significantly reducing the cost of upgrading from analog to IP.
“This is another example of Dahua’s commitment to building user-friendly, flexible video surveillance solutions to improve safety and security for a wide range of end-users,” explained Hackenburg.
ePoE network cameras extend connectivity beyond the IP standard distance of 328ft (100m). Both fixed (2.8mm and 3.6mm) and vari-focal (2.7mm-13.5mm) options are available in dome, bullet, and eyeball form factors. The cameras have Intelligent Video System (IVS) analytics including tripwire, intrusion detection, and detection of abandoned or missing objects. They also feature Dahua’s innovative Smart H.265+ compression codec, which reduces bandwidth and storage requirements by up to 80% compared to standard H.264.
The ePoE cameras are compatible with Dahua’s Pro Series ePoE 16-channel NVR. Combined with a powerful processor with up to 4K resolution and long transmission distances (800m/10Mbps or 300m/100Mbps over CAT5 or coaxial cable), the all-in-one ePoE NVR adds flexibility and cost savings when connected with ePoE cameras. The device is available with multiple options for storage capacity––up to 24 TB—and supports H.265 decoding at up to sixteen channels at 1080p or four channels at 4K for live view or playback. Additionally, the ePoE NVR is backwards compatible with standard Ethernet or PoE cameras and switches.
The ePoE network switch has four ePoE ports that support long-distance PoE transmission when connected with Dahua ePoE cameras and NVRs. With plug-and-play functionality, no configuration is required. The switch’s industrial-grade design allows it to operate within a wide operation temperature range (-22°F ~ 149°F) and high-level lightning protection. This highly-flexible device is also compatible with non-ePoE network cameras.
