Telguard's TG-SCI Plus Dual-Path Alarm Communicator

April 5, 2017
Solution helps security dealers save money with Wi-Fi

Las Vegas, NV (ISC West, Booth #18109) April 5, 2017 – Telguard, Telular’s flagship IoT Security and Automation brand, today announced the addition of the TG-SCI Plus to its series of dual-path alarm communicators. The family of products features SafetyNet™, the industry’s first dual pathway for alarm transmission that combines Wi-Fi with pay-on-demand cellular service. SafetyNet allows cellular to immediately back up Wi-Fi when the broadband pathway becomes unavailable. With a TG-SCI communicator and SafetyNet, dealers can leverage the low cost of broadband without sacrificing the safety of immediate cellular alarm delivery.

“As a leader in alarm transmission solutions, we are always looking for ways to make that service as economical as possible for security dealers,” said Shawn Welsh, SVP, Product Line Management and Marketing, Telular. “The TG-SCI Series and SafetyNet, our pay-on-demand cellular solution, ensures that signal forwarding can benefit from more profitable pathways for both take-overs and new installations. With the new TG-SCI Plus for traditional panels, SafetyNet ensures that the end user’s safety and dealer’s profits are always protected.”

For security dealers, SafetyNet offers the best of both worlds by combining the low cost of broadband with the always-on, reliable protection of cellular. The TG-SCI communicators with SafetyNet leverage Wi-Fi as an opportunistic path for alarm communications. Wi-Fi is an easily accessible connection that most end users already have at home, but it can occasionally go down. The SafetyNet feature allows cellular to immediately back up Wi-Fi in those cases when the broadband pathway becomes unavailable. And as a further protection of dealer’s profits, the first two cellular signals each month are free in the event that cellular service is needed in response to the temporary loss of the broadband path.

The TG-SCI Series of communicators is comprised of the newest addition to the series, the TG-SCI Plus, the TG-SCI, and the TG-SCI expansion pack. As with all Telguard residential communicators, the TG-SCI Series also supports the RMR-boosting HomeControl Flex™ interactive solution.

  • The TG-SCI Plus (TGSCIPG01) – for traditional dial capture panels, it is optimal for take-overs that can leverage the low cost of Wi-Fi.
  • The TG-SCI (TGSCIG01) – for all-in-one panels, it can simply be plugged into the existing radio slot of the GE/Interlogix Simon XT/XTi and XTi5 panels using its 6-pin header.
  • The TG-SCI Expansion Pack (75011201) – is a cable connection that allows the TG-SCI to work with additional all-in-one panels, such as the Simon 3, the Honeywell Lynx Plus and Lynx Touch, and the DSC Alexor.

An additional accessory to the TG-SCI Series, the new FlexHub™ by Telguard, can be used as a Wi-Fi bridge to eliminate the need to access the homeowner’s router or password, further simplifying installation.

The TG-SCI and the Expansion Pack are available today and the TG-SCI Plus will be available in May at security distributor locations. The complete TG-SCI Series will be on display at ISC West 2017 in Telguard booth #18109, April 5 – April 7, at the Sands Expo, Las Vegas, NV.
